What programs do I need to view the MEERA site?

Tips for Using MEERA

Below are the recommended  web browsers and readers that will allow you to view MEERA and its associated resources.

Web Browsers

Web browsers are programs that display webpages.  The following describes the most popular free web browsers and their respective compatibility with MEERA.  To download one of the browsers, click on the respective links below.

  • Mozilla Fire Fox 2
Mozilla FireFox is MEERA's preferred browser on the Windows Operating System.
  • Safari 1.2
Safari is only compatible with a Macintosh Operating System.  Safari is MEERA's preferred browser on the Macintosh Operating System.
  • Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1
This Internet browser is recommended for viewing MEERA within systems running versions of Windows prior to Windows XP. Be aware, however, that when using this browser, portions of text may seem to disappear from the screen. Text is likely to reappear if you scroll up or down the page.
  • Internet Explorer 7
Internet Explorer 7 is the recommended browser for computers running Windows XP.  Many users of XP are still using Internet Explorer 6 and that is fine. We are providing this link for those that may be interested in upgrading.  Microsoft supplies a list of system requirements for downloading Internet Explorer 7.

Readers

These readers will help you access the many resources offered on the MEERA site or through other sites linked to MEERA.

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
Adobe Acrobat Reader allows for the viewing and printing of .pdf documents.  MEERA provides many resources in .pdf format and links to .pdf resources at other sites.
  • Microsoft Office File Converters and Viewers
This online resource lists viewers, for those that do not have the actual applications, that will allow you to open and view files created with Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and many others.
